Helen Bess Finch

Helen Bess Finch was an interior designer, running her own business and heading a number of interior design organizations. She gradated from Uni High in 1924, and attended Westlake College in 1925. In 1929, she gained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois, and attended postgraduate at the University of Illinois as well. Finch opened her own business, Helen Bess Cone Interiors, in 1943, and part of the design committee in charge of renovating the Governor’s mansion in Springfield, Illinois, 1973. She was the president of the Champaign-Urbana, Illinois chapter of the Service League (1941-43), as well as the president of the Illinois chapter of the American Institute Designers (1968-1971). In addition, Finch on the board of directors of the American Society Interior Designers.
