Lisa Micele (lmicele@illinois.edu) serves as the Director of College Counseling -- overseeing the formal college college process for juniors and seniors. She also serves as the Head of Counseling of the Student Services Office and coordinates/ supervises the Peer College Counseling program. Lisa actively participates in professional organizations and college visitation programs to further enhance not only her knowledge of various college campuses but also the professional visibility of University Laboratory High School nationwide. She is an active member in IACAC (Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling) and NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling) -- and regularly presents at regional, state and national conferences. She serves on various state & national advisory / scholarship selection committees, and is currently a "college counselor advisor" to the national Fiske College Guide series. She serves as an instructor for the Principals Scholars Program on the University of Illinois campus -- instructing students and their families (from surrounding high schools) on the college selection & application process. Lisa joined Uni High in 1993. While at Uni, she has received the "Teacher of the Year" award in 1995, the Yearbook Dedication in 1997,and was asked to give the commencement address for the Class of 1994. In 2000, Lisa received the CAPE (Chancellor's Academic Professional for Excellence) Award on the University of Illinois campus-- nominated for her work contributions, personal contributions, and professional contributions as an academic professional on campus. The Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling awarded Mrs. Micele the "Newcomer Award" in 1997, and the "President's Service Recognition Award" for strong and consistent leadership to IACAC in 2003. Lisa received both her B.S. and M.Ed. degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and completed a second M.A. degree in School Counseling from Lewis University. She holds a Type 73 endorsement -- earning School Counselor Certification in the state of Illinois.
